Coming to America for the first time to support her son’s legendary fight with Ricky Hatton, Dionesia Pacquiao has become a celebrity herself. The slim and lively almost-sixty lady has caught the interest of the media, having been featured on TV, doing aerobics, some boxing and a little bit of ballroom dancing.

Andy M. Tecson - Violinist

Andy Tecson is a man with many talents. Aside from singing as tenor with the Philippines Concert Choir, he also plays the violin, guitar and mandolin. Tecson has likewise built a reputation for himself as a professional photographer, a financial planner, an insurance consultant, and an accountant. An active community leader, Andy has been actively involved in the association of FilAms from his hometown in Nueva Ecija, having served as the past president of Cabiao USA.

Having studied violin at an early age, Andy was already an accomplished violinist when he entered the University of the East (UE) to take up Business Administration, major in Accounting. While in UE, he played second violin in the UE Symphony Orchestra.

In an interview with Asian Journal, Melody shares how she is able to fulfill her roles as mother and wife and businesswoman successfully.

The proud mom of James (13) and Heather (11), and wife of her high school sweetheart, John Avecilla, Melody shares how she juggles her time between home and career. "It’s very rewarding and challenging to have the best of both worlds, that is being a mom and having a full time career that I absolutely enjoy. I guess the key is prioritizing. My family will always be my priority. I also adhere to the philosophy that it’s not the quantity but the quality of time I spend with my kids that really matter. The minute I get home, I set aside my laptop and blackberry and just do what I like to do the most which is to be a mom," shares the former PAL flight attendant before she immigrated to the US in 1995.

FE BENITO: Social Worker, Mother

When Fe Benito arrived to the US, she was a young Filipino on a mission. It was 1964 and she wanted to make a difference.

"I loved to travel and I went all over Europe [but] I wanted to reside and become an American citizen," she said.

"This is a country of opportunity, a country where you can advance socially, educationally and professionally…the US is the greatest nation in the world."
