Guam—got a taste of world-class entertainment last Feb. 7 at the University of Guam field house via a big concert featuring the formidable team of The Songbird and the Songwriter—Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid, who were also joined by Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes. Making a much-anticipated guest appearance was the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, WBC lightweight champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. Pacman performed and wowed the crowd as much as he did at the boxing rink. His appearance was a way to thank his fans for their undying support and to promote his upcoming super fight with Ricky Hatton on May 2.
The concert showcased Velasquez and Alcasid’s hit songs from their own albums, as well as their versions of their favorite Filipino songs, which left the audience awestruck.
The successful concert was organized by Star Media Entertainment President and CEO Ana Co Puno, who has long been a respected name in the business with her remarkable streak of mounting special events.
This high-profile concert was also graced with the presence of the first lady of Guam, Mrs Joann Camacho. To celebrate the success of the concert, Gov. and Mrs. Felix Camacho hosted a private lunch at the Government House (I Guma’ I Taotao Guam), which is the official residence of the Governor of Guam and the first family.
This was attended by selected members of the Filipino-American community and distinguished guests including the concert performers Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinky, Pacquiao’s business manager Eric and his wife Macy Pineda, Ana Co Puno, Mike Dalisay, Guam businessman Emelio Y. Uy, GMA 7’s senior vice president Wilma Galvante, GMA 7’s Senior Program Manager Ma. Regina Acuña Magno, Consul General Olivia Palala of the Philippines, Vice-Consul Maria Paz Cortez, PLDT Head of Enterprise Consultancy Services Ronaldo Mendoza and wife Marivic, 1990 Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Famer Franco Harris, Asian Journal Publications, Inc. CEO and Publisher Roger Oriel and Balikbayan Magazine Editor-in-Chief Lito Ocampo Cruz who flew in from Manila. (AJPRess)
