There is a significant change happening in Asia and it’s spreading like fire, lighting up the hearts and souls of those who have been touched.
When you hear the title, 1040, the thought of another end-of-days movie come to mind, but it isn’t. In fact, it’s about the birth and growth of Christianity in the lives of the people of Asia. 1040 is the region between 10° degrees and 40° degrees North Latitude on the Eastern hemisphere, where most of this miraculous change is happening.
It was a pleasure to be invited to the premier of "1040 -Christianity in the new Asia" last Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood. The documentary movie features the significant burgeoning of Christianity in the area known as the "10/40 Window" through interview with prominent leaders and celebrities and acute observations. Jaeson Ma, artist and minister, explores the dramatic and profound changes taking place in Asian countries in the ‘window’ like China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia.
For the non-believers, who’ve chosen to close their hearts, it is an eye opener; and to those who’ve been burden with so much load in life, it energizes the flagging spirit.
This movie strengthened my belief in the power of prayer. Prayer is a great weapon - an inexpensive and powerful one. It gives me a sense of security that everything will be fine. That someone GREATis always over me. Iam not alone. It gives me the confidence to face any challenge. Iknow I’m not close to being a saint, but Itry my best to hone the relationship Ihave with God. Sometimes we have to unlearn a lot in order to discover who we truly are. I’ve come to understand Iam not here to judge. Iam here to live, to grow, to love, and to be bold about my faith. This is my 1040 impact.
Celebrities featured in the film such as MC Hammer, Van Ness Wu, Jin Au-Yeung, and Sean Ro are not only committed to their craft but also as a soldier of God. They have really stepped up and given all of themselves in their service to the Lord – their time, their energy, and their resources to spread the movement.
So much more needs to be done, which begs the question where do we even start? Wherever you can, with whatever you immediately have.
