Last May 2009, the Filipino-American Symphony Orchestra presented its gala concert at the Saban Theatre in Hollywood, mesmerizing and fascinating the audience with the elegant artistry and outstanding quality of their performance.
Seven months later, in December 2009, their second concert, Handog Ng Faso Sa Pasko, wowed the community once more with the depth of their performances and the amazing choirs and vocalists.
This coming Saturday, July 10, the Filipino-American community will be treated to another unique concert at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium when FASO Goes To The Movies.
Every time FASO puts up a concert, the audience enjoys a different but equally amazing show. The third concert promises to be a feast for the soul and the senses as it treats the audience to not only an auditory but a visual experience as well, plus a unique display of authentic Filipino culture.
FASO Goes To The Movies will feature well-loved musical themes of unforgettable Hollywood and Filipino movies. "Our coming concert is a celebration of some of our favorite movies, as our 65-member orchestra performs classical soundtracks, both from the Philippines and from Hollywood," said FASO Musical Director and Conductor Bob Shroder.
Video clips of famous movies will be shown as the film’s theme is played by the orchestra. This will not only accentuate the song but will also trigger memories – with the short clips reinforcing the emotions set off by the amazing music of the live orchestra.
True to its mission, the concert will include a grand display of the Philippines’ rich culture, by featuring many beloved Filipino classic movie themes. Bob Shroder makes sure each FASO concert will not just feature a symphony orchestra; but will also be a wonderful cultural experience for the audience. "Our objective is to bring Filipino culture to America via a repertoire of Filipino music, as performed by a live orchestra, most of whom are Filipino musicians, " shared Shroder.
"The goal of Filipino artists must be to maximize their full potential and showcase their God-given talents to inspire and benefit the world. Our challenge at Asian Journal Foundation is to give to these Filipino artists the support they need to reach that goal, through the Filipino-American Symphony Orchstra," said FASO founder and Asian Journal Foundation Chairman, Roger Oriel. "FASO Goes To The Movies will surely showcase the outstanding talents of our Filipino artists here in LA." Oriel said proudly.
