NEW YORK - Arnel Pineda is in the limelight once more but this time, it is not about his journey to fame but how this experience had made him a sad man, according to a recent article published by Rolling Stone.
In its October 2, 2008 issue, the magazine featured an article titled Sad ‘Journey’ for New Singer and painted Pineda as someone who was not enjoying his stint with the band, and to make matters worse, mentioned that “the Filipino frontman finds Journey tour “a curse.”
In April 1994, the plane carrying the President of Rwanda was shot down and he was killed. The incident brought to a head the long simmering feud between the Tutsi and Hutus tribes in Rwanda and ignited a three-month genocide in which almost 1 million Tutsis were massacred by the Hutu tribe killers. Immaculee Ilibagiza, a 24-year-old Tutsi woman, survived the genocide by hiding with seven other women in a 3x4 feet bathroom in a Catholic pastor’s house.
For 91 days, Immaculee and the women huddled silently, cramped together in an undiscovered bathroom, emerging only after France sent troops to stop the genocide.
LOS ANGELES - A FilAm animator has been awarded an Emmy for his work in The Simpsons during an awards program held at the Nokia Center last Sept. 13. Jesus “Jess” Espanola, an assistant director with Burbank-based Starz Film Roman, was informed about the nomination in May by Chuck Sheetz, his director. The awards show was shown on E Channel on Sept. 20.
Espanola received his Emmy at Nokia Theater on Sept. 13 with his wife. “All of us who were nominated in all different categories had a party on August 26 at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences,” Espanola told Asian Journal. “Each of us was given a certificate of honor as a nominee, but the announcement would be made on Sept. 13 at the Nokia Theater, we were told.”
