If there are things that actors Dennis Trillo and Jake Cuenca have in common, it’s having a beautiful face, a full-formed physique, and a hunger for new experiences.
In the upcoming days, these two promising actors are about to show how passionate they can get when it comes to acting.
Their good looks may have brought them to be the leading men of some of the most primed actresses of their mother stations, GMA and ABS-CBN, but Dennis Trillo and Jake Cuenca have proven to be all that and more as they show their maturity as actors in My Neighbor’s Wife, a film which they top-bill alongside sexy actresses Lovi Poe and Carla Abellana.
Being best friends in real life, Dennis and Jake found the part to play as Aaron and Bullet in the movie respectively as an advantage because their characters are also supposed to be best buddies in the film.
In My Neighbor’s Wife, however, Aaron and Bullet’s friendship was tarnished when Bullet started to have an extramarital affair with Aaron’s wife, Giselle (Poe). Upon learning her husband’s infidelity with Giselle, Jasmine (Abellana) decides to fight fire with fire with and gets involved with Aaron.
During the recent press conference of My Neighbor’s Wife, Dennis admitted that although he played several roles in the past, My Neighbor’s Wife has been “the most daring” movie he did so far. The actor cited his love scenes with Lovi and Carla as something he never did in a film before because the sensual scenes called for random and unusual locations.
Dennis’s performance was critically acclaimed when he played a
s a cross-dressing spy in his debut film, Aishite Imasu 1941: Mahal Kita in 2004. He also played different roles such as being a protagonist/ antagonist in several GMA shows like Magdusa Ka and Sinner or Saint, as well as a superhero in Gagambino, among many others. With all these characters, Dennis has added his role as the feisty Aaron to his long list of diverse roles.
Considering that My Neighbor’s Wife is a film that tackles marital infidelity, the question: “have you ever cheated on a partner?” surfaced almost expectedly during the press conference.
With his past real relationships barely kept a secret, Dennis was quick to admit he was only human and that he cheated on his partner too during his younger years. The actor, however, said that it was a mistake that he learned from and vowed to never do again.
Knowing that most of the scenes required showing some skin, Dennis shared it was something he needed to prepare for. This was why he considered going to the gym a lot to be at par with his sexy co-stars, Jake, Lovi, and Carla.
“Na-pressure talaga ako kay Jake Cuenca eh, nakita niyo naman yung katawan n’ong tao. So, talagang minabuti ko na paghandaan para hindi naman ako nakakahiya pag katabi nilang lahat.”
Likewise, Jake praised Dennis and said he was also privileged to work with his best friend who is an award-winning actor, along with the latter’s colleagues at GMA.
“E, napakagaling at professional din ni Dennis e. Tapos dagdagan pa ng Carla, dagdagan ng Lovi, wow talagang go na go. Bihira ko lang sila makatrabaho dahil puro taga-Channel 7 nga sila.”
The actor further said in a report from PEP.ph posted last month that although he has done a few teleseryes like the hit Tayong Dalawa and Rubi, and movies like In the Name of Love (which also required him to show some skin), he considers his character, Bullet, as his most daring role yet.
According to Jake, it was also writer/director Jun Lana’s motivation that helped them to release their inhibitions and really immerse themselves with the characters they portrayed.
“Na-challenge kami kay Direk na gawing natural at totoo, na maging professional sa set pagdating sa mga love scene namin.”
Jake was also confident to say that aside from their controversial love scenes in the movie, the story itself is something that everybody should look forward to. The movie, according to him, tackles a sensitive marital issue that many couples shy away from admitting because of shame. It was also because of the “mature” material of the movie that made Jake accept the role.
