Beautiful 'Rich' days ahead for Kyla

Kyla with Rich AlvarezKyla may have gotten used to hearing her written song, Beautiful Days in wedding playlists; but soon it will be her turn to hear it play for her and the man behind it on their very own wedding. Set on Monday, November 28, 2011, the country’s one and only R&B Princess is set to marry PBA player, Rich Alvarez with a vintage Hollywood glam theme.

As a singer, model, occasional actor, and host who started out at a very young age, Kyla has managed to keep her private life protected while never losing her brilliance in whatever she does. This, she also successfully applied to her six-year relationship with Talk and Text Cager, Rich Alvarez.

The internationally-acclaimed singer just turned 30 last January 5, 2011. That same day, she told Tweetbiz that the best birthday gift would be a proposal from Rich (sans the pressure, of course). As if granting her wish, Kyla recalled in an interview with 24 Oras’ Chika Minute segment surprised she was when Rich proposed to her later that same month in front of their families.

The mainstay host of the Sunday musical-variety show, Party Pilipinas (PP) further divulged during the announcement of her engagement at the show, that she could not help but shed tears of joy during Rich’s proposal. She said she was so caught in the moment that she forgot to give her boyfriend her formal “Yes.”

Rich, on the other hand, did not mind kneeling down again in PP to ask for Kyla’s sweet “Yes.” Thus, further saying: “I’m sorry you waited so long. It’s always been you, you know, I’m just waiting for the right timing, the right everything. So I’m really blessed and I’m so happy that you said yes to me. I love you.”

With the wedding being a couple of weeks away, Kyla admits she has been experiencing wedding jitters as November 28 draws near. The anxious Kyla, who is Melanie Calumpad in real life, jested in a recent interview with the Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) last November 9, 2011, how she finally could have a surname at last. Kidding aside, she then shared that her gown was made by her good friend, Cocoy Lizaso, and Rich’s suit was done by Randy Ortiz.

Expected to be an intimate affair, the couple refuses to divulge any further details on what Parish their wedding will exactly be celebrated. They also refused to spill the complete list of entourage except for the part of Kyla’s friends at Party Pilipinas. Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez will be among the principal sponsors and Jolina Magdangal and Rachelle Ann Go will be among the secondary sponsors.

While it is somehow expected that there will be known performers at a celebrity wedding, Kyla, however, said that among the singers of the wedding, she is really looking forward to the number of her parents, who are set to sing together with their group, “Bagong Himig.”

Apparently excited, Kyla lights up whenever she was asked to share about how she feels about the upcoming wedding. In several showbiz interviews, Kyla always shares how she can’t wait to travel around the world with Rich, especially in their target honeymoon site, Europe.

She also went into a dreamy state when she said that she cannot wait to look after her fiancé when they start to live together in the Japanese Zen-designed house that Rich has built especially for the their own family. The singer said she has been practicing on how to cook and do laundry by hands, all for her soon-to-be-husband.

Rich on the other hand told Ricky Lo in an interview last February 19, 2011 on Startalk that he would not stop Kyla from singing even after they were married. He assured his fiancé, who was beside him at that time, that he will support her in “whatever she wants” to do.

“(If she) wants to keep dancing and stuff, that’s fine. I’m just here to make sure she’s happy. And she is. See?”

Meanwhile, in a brief interview with the press at the store opening of Terranova at the SM Mall of Asia last September 15, 2011, Kyla only wishes that guests will be able to have fun at the wedding.

“Sana walang problema, lahat masaya, nakakakaba sa part na ‘yon.”
