Mamarazzi Movie PosterA fun experience awaits Filipino moviegoers as the comedy film Mamarazzi starring Eugene Domingo hits the big screen.

Dubbed as the "Comedy Diva" of the Philippines, Eugene has become the most celebrated comediennes of late, thanks to last year’s blockbuster hit Kimmy Dora. Her exceptional charisma and perfect-pitch delivery of punchlines never fail to leave her audience asking for more.

Now, she heads the cast of Mamarazzi, Regal Entertainment Inc.’s 50th anniversary offering. Recently, Eugene starred in Here Comes the Bride, which was also a hit at the tills.

In Mamarazzi, Eugene collaborates with the film industry’s finest people led by Joel C. Lamangan as director and Ricky Lee as writer.

Eugene plays the role of Violy, a mortuary make-up artist who dreams of having kids--with or without a father. Her best friend, played by John "Sweet" Lapus, suggests Violy to consider getting a sperm donor to make this long-time dream come true. Violy follows the advice, with the sperm donor in the person of Diether Ocampo, and she is later on blessed with triplets in the person of AJ Perez, the male in the triplets and Andi Eigenmann who plays the role of the twin females.

Her attempts to be a good mother to her kids come to border on meddling, and Violy finds herself in a string of awkward yet hilarious situations.

In the film’s press conference held last August 3, Eugene and Diether candidly answered some of the media’ daring questions—and even showed the press a teaser of what they could look forward to in the movie.

Uge (Eugene’s nickname to friends and associates) then let out a half-meant joke that she tends to take advantage of her leading men especially the good-looking ones like when she was paired with the dashing Dingdong Dantes in Kimmy Dora and now with hunky Diether in Mamarazzi.

Deither replied that he did not feel that Eugene was taking advantage of him at all, adding that he considers Eugene as very professional when it comes to her work. Diether confessed that the experience caught him by surprise but he was not offended at all.

When asked how he would compare Eugene to other leading ladies like Angelica Panganiban, Diether said he cannot put it in to words. Then right before the media Diether kissed Eugene right on the lips!

The press, still dazed with shock, asked Diether how does Eugene’s lips felt on his? "Let’s just say that if I was to compare, she’s like a special lechon in Cebu. That delicious, that delicious!" the actor said in Tagalog.

With the rate her career is booming this days, Eugene is far gone from being left on the sidelines or a mere token best friend; she now lead stars in every movie she’s in, and these movies raking money at the box office is almost always a guarantee.

Also starring young actors Arron Villaflor, Carl Guevarra, Lucho Ayala, JC Tuiseco, Xian Lim and introducing Carla Abellana,

Mamarazzi will be shown in Philippine theaters August 25. (AJPress)
