Two of the most successful comediennes in the industry, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Eugene Domingo reunite this December via the film Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na ‘To). Directed by Wenn Deramas, the movie is the final installment of the hit movie series, Ang Tanging Ina and one of Star Cinema’s entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival.After being the ex-president of the Philippines in Ang Tanging Ina 2, Ai-Ai comes back as Ina Montecillo in Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na ‘To) as a grandmother to Owie Boy Gapuz, who plays as the son of Nikki Valdez who just came back from Canada. Eugene, on the other hand, will still be playing the part of Rowena, Ina’s (Ai-Ai) best friend and a godmother to Ina’s children.
Being certified blockbuster queens, Ai-Ai and Eugene have come a long way and have made a name for themselves. Ai-Ai, dubbed as the country’s Comedy Concert Queen, while Eugene as the Comedy Diva, both comediennes said in an interview with Showbiz News Ngayon that they remain to be good friends even off-screen amidst the issues of rivalry that continue to hound them whenever they work together.
Last July, Eugene said before the press conference of her movie Mamarazzi that she is pleased to work with Ai-Ai because despite the latter’s success, she lets her co-stars shine.
In reply Ai-Ai said during an interview with The Buzz that she is flattered by Eugene’s comment and added that she lets her co-stars have their own "[shining] moment."
"…Kasi ganun naman dapat, hindi kayo nagsasapawan (that’s how it should be, you should not try to overpower one another) and Eugene is a very, very good of mine," Ai-Ai added.
The Tanging Ina series revolves around the story of Ina (Ai-Ai), who is a widow to three husbands and a mother to twelve children. Together with Rowena (Eugene), Ina finds herself embarking on a series of comically naive adventures just to make ends meet and be a responsible mother for her children in the best way that she knows.
Tanging Ina original cast members Marvin Agustin (Juan), Nikki Valdez (Tudis), Carlo Aquino (Tri), Shaina Magdayao (Seven), Marc Acueza (Six), Serena Dalrymple (Cate), and Yuuki Kadooka (Ten-Ten) will all be reprising their roles as children of Ina (Ai-Ai) in Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last na ‘To).
