From being the hunched-back in Kampanerang Kuba, then evolving into a striking goddess in Dyosa, to becoming a sassy host at Showtime, Anne Curtis is all set to hit the big screen again via Who’s That Girl? a romantic-comedy film who also stars one of Anne’s most treasured persons both on and off screen—Luis Manzano.
Directed by the critically acclaimed ,Wenn Deramas, Who’s That Girl? depicts a romantic-comedy with a very interesting twist.
Who’s That Girl? tells a story about Bea (Anne Curtis), who has a big crush on the hunk varsity player, John Eduque (Luis Manzano) back when they were in college. Bea’s affection for John intensified when the latter stumbled upon her at campus one morning while she was having one of the most difficult times of her life. John gave Bea a pep talk which made her want John even more after college.
Now an alluring and an accomplished businesswoman, Bea still finds herself daydreaming of how John turned out to be after college. It was only after reading John’s name in the obituary that she realized her dreams of being together with her ideal man is now far from ever happening. Grief-stricken, Bea goes to the wake crying out her unexpressed feelings for John as she walks towards his coffin—only to find out it was actually John Eduque Sr. lying in the casket and not her John.
Embarrassed by the commotion she had caused, Bea hurriedly walks out of the wake leaving everybody—especially Mrs. Eduque, with the false belief that Bea is her husband’s unknown mistress. Since Bea’s unexpected appearance, Mrs. Eduque has grown insanely depressed, therefore sending John on a hunt for his father’s mistress to seek vengeance for his mother.
Upon finally meeting Bea, however, John finds himself falling for his father’s alleged mistress instead of seeking revenge for his mother, clouding his resolution on what he should follow: His mother’s wish, or his heart’s desire.
The first movie offering of Viva Films in 2011, in partnership with SMDC, Who’s that Girl? will also be Anne’s debut movie for 2011, with her last two projects in 2010 being In Your Eyes with Richard Guttierez and Babe I Love You with Sam Milby.
Who’s That Girl? also serves as a reunion movie for Anne and Luis who have been close friends for
over a decade now. They were last paired in the teleserye Dyosa and the movie Ang Cute Ng Ina Mo as well.
In an interview with Push.com.ph, Luis shared that Anne is one of his onscreen partners that he will never tire working with.
“Our relationship goes beyond camera,” admitted Luis. “Ang pagmamahal ko sa kanya ay talagang buong puso (I love her with all of my heart).” The actor also said that he misses Anne when they do other projects apart from each other. “So at least now we get the chance to spend time together and work together,” Luis added.
Both Luis and Anne shared with the media how much they value each other’s friendship and how much fun they had working together again at the press conference of Who’s That Girl? last February 4, at the the City Best Restaurant in Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City,
For Luis, he considers Anne as his “soulmate.” He also said that he finds Curtis to be his “female version” who understands him no matter what and would be there for him whenever he needs someone to talk to even about love issues.
Anne, on the other hand, considers Who’s That Girl? to be a chance for her and Luis to catch up with each other and work and play at the same time.
“It’s so much fun to work with him..of course when you’re shooting a movie you have to do the scenes over and over again because of the angles and different shots. Sa aming dalawa, hindi na kami nagkakailangan kasi matagal na kaming magkakilala (There are no awkward moments with us anymore because we both know each other very well), we just say, ‘Let’s do this.’ Wala kaming (There are no) special feeling at all [laughs],” she shared.
