This special event will focus on educating qualified voters about the importance of casting their votes and making their voices heard. Volunteers will also be on hand to help register first-time voters before the October 20th California voter registration deadline.
"As a minority community, Asian Pacific Islander Americans are often overlooked," said Tracey Leong, director of programming and outreach of CAUSE. "We want to send a message that our voices and votes can make an impact and the first step is educating voters, especially the younger generation."
Favorite stars like Michelle Krusiec, John Cho, James Kyson Lee, Sung Kang, Aaron Yoo, Olivia Munn, Nicole Bilderback and Archie Kao will make special appearances in support of the event. In addition, Grammy-award-winning DJ Nemesis Jaxson (aka Macy Gray) will serve as guest deejay for the night. Other highlights include exclusive performances by rising entertainers and organizations such as Alex Hwang, Projekct NewSpeak, Sam Geunjin Kang, Jason Arimoto and Beau Sia. These performers bring their talents to the table hoping to inspire APIAs to vote in the upcoming November election.
A number of community leaders and organizations are also mobilized to support Project by Project and CAUSE's efforts. Some community partners include: Projekt NewSpeak, Drinks n' Chatter, Kollaboration, Asian Professional Exchange (APEX), Asian Pacific American Legislative Staffers (APALS), I-Vote and The House of GLAM. Elected officials have been invited to attend.
"This has been a successful and fruitful year of partnership between Project by Project and CAUSE," said Chester Hashizume, president of Project by Project Southern California. "By co-hosting this event and bringing the community together to inspire and empower the younger generation, we hope to see an increase in voter turnout from previously-registered voters as well as newly-registered voters."
Cover for the event is $15 at the door, but voters who register with CAUSE that evening will receive free entry. For more information, please contact Lisa Thong at (626) 356-9838 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
