FELICITATIONS and high-spirited glee reigned supreme in the recently celebrated PACCAL’s ((Pan American Concerned Citizens Action League) 17th Anniversary Dinner Gala and Awards Ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Hotel along Frontage Road in Newark, New Jersey last Sunday, October 11, 2009, that distinctly honored nine leaders of the Fil-Am community for their most outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields with the Hon. Consul Gen. Cecile B. Rebong as guest speaker.
In line with PACCAL’s program of promoting family culture and values, the husband and wife tandem of Ruben and Maripi Tanteo was unanimously chosen by the Awards Committee to receive the “Parents of the Year” award for their worth-emulating ways.
The 2009 Leadership awardees for being the prime exponents in the various fields where they are most recognized and have successfully excel are: Rogelio “Ogie” B. Afable for Cultural Heritage, Capt. Emilie Bleza Guinto, DDS for Young Professional, Lilia R. Juele for Education, Golda Dela Merced for Performing Arts, Darice Toon for Health and Human Services, Bobby T. Yalong for Fine Arts and Fashion Design and Francisco P. Yuvienco, M.D. for Medical Profession.
Ably hosted by veteran emcee-performer JR Lavarro (who also shared his vocal prowess via “Cabaret”) with the enticing Luchie Vivas as co-host,(who’s provocatively alluring in her body-hugging serpentina stone-crusted bubble-hemmed Bobby T. Yalong gown), PACCAL’s 17th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony was undoubtedly uncompromisingly conceptualized, enjoyably exciting and well-attended.
