LOS ANGELES - The United Batangueños of Southern California, Inc. (UBSCI), a Los Angeles-based socio-civic organization looks forward to a year of greater accomplishments in 2010. At the celebration of their 22nd Anniversary to be held at the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel on April 10 (Saturday), all UBSCI members are in high spirits for new challenges in lieu with their social and service-oriented community projects.
UBSCI was founded in 1988. From the day of its inception until now, UBSCI has committed itself to serving the Batangueños in So Cal and in Batangas province. The Batangas province Scholarship program, a 15-year long on-going project has helped many young Batangueños to earn a College education. This program qualifies deserving students for free-matriculation and stipend support for the duration of the course – an oath that UBSCI had committed to help poor families in Batangas send their children to College or University in the same province. Other means of civic assistance that UBSCI will provide soon includes apostolic and humanitarian services. UBSCI strongly believes that bringing change in the community and in our country in general takes will power to do what we ought to do, and step up to the action! The years of servitude that UBSCI had shared with the community is distinct and indeed, very profound.
What better way to celebrate over 2 decades of brotherhood, unity, and Bayanihan than to share a night of fun and entertainment among members and guests. Their 22nd Foundation Anniversary on April 10 will also mark the Coronation of Mrs UBSCI 2010, a tradition of beauty that does not only catapult the best among the rest of the UBSCI ladies, but also personifies the innate charm of a Batangueña! The coronation ceremony for Ms Young UBSC USA and Ms Little Princess will take place during the celebration as well. To oversee the event are Governor Eric Villafranca and Cely Anuran, one of the pageant chairpersons.
Music will be provided by Willie Manacsa and the Midnight Motion Band from 6 pm to 1 am. With fine dining, drinks, and ballroom dancing, families, and friends, this occasion will once again take one-full chapter in UBSC history!
