Experience and enjoy a true Filipino tradition in NYC this coming Holy Thursday April 1st starting with the 5:30pm mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan located at E50th Street and 5th Avenue . If you cannot join us at 5:30pm for the Mass, please participate at any point in the succeeding activities of this event.
Due to the success of last year's event, The Catholic Fellowship of Young Filipino Professionals (CFYFP) will once again hold Visita Iglesia (Visit of the Churches). Visita Iglesia is an age-old practice in the Philippines wherein Filipino Catholics visit seven churches in vigil of the Blessed Sacrament, and in contemplation of the agony of Christ. For those who are not familiar with this tradition, this will be a fun way to learn an important part of the Filipino culture.
We will kick off the event by attending the Holy Thursday Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It will most likely be crowded but if you would like to sit with us, we plan to be seated on the leftmost side facing the altar closer to the front.
Immediately after the mass (at about 6:45-7:00pm), we will congregate at the First Station of the Cross at St. Patrick's Cathedral. We will then proceed to other churches within the vicinity and do two Stations of the Cross and silently pray for about 5-10 minutes in each church.
We'll end the event with an evening social at a bar in the Upper East Side. Please see below our itinerary.
If you arrive late, you may contact: Geraldine Dayang (646.637.4459), Ted Martinez (571.277.1691) or Joe Valdez (917.494.6234) so you can catch up with us.
