MARCH 3, 2009 PRIMARY NOMINATING ELECTION
LOS ANGELES Interim City Clerk Karen E. Kalfayan announced today that additional pollworkers are still needed to assist in the upcoming March 3, 2009, City of Los Angeles Primary Nominating Election.
Help provide a vital service needed in the community by volunteering to be a pollworker. For Election Day service, you will be paid up to an $80/$100 stipend and a bonus of $25 for attending a required two-hour training class. Pollworker training classes are scheduled throughout the community in the weeks prior to Election Day. You must be at least 18 years old by Election Day and a registered voter in order to volunteer to be a pollworker.
Also, in an effort to meet the needs of the City of Los Angeles’ linguistically diverse electorate and comply with federal requirements, the Election Division is in particular need of bilingual pollworkers. If you can speak both English and one of the six federally-mandated languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese), you are encouraged to volunteer to be a pollworker on Election Day.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to be a pollworker, please call the City Clerk - Election Division, Pollworker Recruitment Section toll-free at (866) 899-VOTE(8683).
