Rotary Club of Historic Filipinotown turned over 30 new internet-connected computers to two public high schools in Pampanga, Philippines on February 6, 2009.
The two public high schools were recommended by the Philippine Department of Education, based on economic and technology needs. Each school and its surrounding communities committed to secure and maintain the equipment. Sustainability will be ensured by charging affordable usage fees to students.
The grant amounted to $21,000-. RC of HiFi tapped a generous donor for $6,000-, the Filipino United Network (USA) headed by Dr. Philip Chua. District 3830 in the Philippines matched this with $6,000- from its DDF. The Rotary Foundation provided the balance of $9,000-.
