Housing Leadership Day conference will be held Oct. 23 in San Mateo County
South San Francisco, California — Housing Leadership Day, the premiere housing conference in San Mateo County, will be Friday, October 23, 2009, 7:30 am-3:00 pm, at the Oracle Corp. Conference Center in Redwood City. Organized by Housing Leadership Council of San Mateo County, the conference provides the opportunity for community leaders, housing industry professionals, advocates, business people, and residents to come together to get answers and make connections across sectors. This year’s theme will be “Worst of Times, Best of Times? Housing in a Topsy - Turvy Era?” Lead corporate sponsors of the event include Wells Fargo, Oracle Corporation, and Citibank.
The day will focus on critical issues for San Mateo County: Where is the housing market headed? How can “shovel-ready” construction contribute to recovery? How can we plan for a more environmentally sustainable, economically robust, and inclusive community in the recovery? Highlights include a plenary panel discussion, “Grow Smart San Mateo County,” based on the acclaimed “Grow Smart Bay Area” report by Greenbelt Alliance, as well as workshops on topics such as supportive housing, foreclosures and homeownership today, sustainable development, and more.
In addition, 50 scholarships are available to the conference for San Mateo County community members to attend, thanks to a generous donation from the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
