The Mayor of Carson, Jim Dear, made a special appearance on his birthday to act as the Inducting Officer. The event was well attended by the VCA Carson members, and guests, the Gardena Senior Community, and friends representing the Carson City-wide commission (Lauro Catipon) and Parks and Recreation (Venit Relatores). The CONFAA President, Joe Merton joined at the early part of the day.
The sponsors of the event were the Argent Medical Group in Carson, represented by Dr. Jenny Batongmalaque, Vangie Beltran, Maria Gutierrez and Ronika Thomas. The Greater South Bay Home Health, was represented by Lilia Ramos RN, CEO, Donna Salonga, RN, Roselyn Sakay, Joseph Sevilla and Gilbert Lazaro. L.A. Care was represented by Jojo Morales and the Better Options for Health Insurance was represented by Victoria Zofti, who brought the celebrated “lechon.”
The newly inducted officers of the VCA in Carson were: Commander Fred Credo; Vice-Commander Teofilo Eborda; Adjutant Lilia de Jesus; Asst. Adjutant Vangie Beltran; Finance Officer Virginia Bobiles; Judge Advocate Lauro Catipon; Auditor Venit Relatores; 3 Service Officers, namely: Emiliana Villanueva, Maria Gagarra, and Loreta Pradilla; Marshall Wilfredo Salazar, Chaplain Ladd Garrido, and Executive Director, Dr. Jenny Batongmalaque.
The Mayor announced two great events for the City of Carson: The Erasto R. Batongmalaque Foundation sponsoring the Senior Assessment Center in the City of Carson will address the needs of the seniors in Carson and be the demonstration project for the patient centered medical home as proposed in the health care reform bills now being debated in Congress. The Senior Assessment Center, a charitable organization, offers an informational and educational resource for seniors and Veterans who want to know what is the best and appropriate health plan for him or her. The Center also offers an opportunity for socialization and recreation events for seniors and Veterans six days a week, Monday thru Saturday at its new location, 23247 So. MainStreet, Carson. The community is enjoined to participate in its programs and planned events to raise awareness to the needs of seniors and Veterans in the City of Carson.
