New Farmer's Market at the South Bay Pavilion

CARSON - South Bay Pavilion will now be the new site for the Farmer's Market in Carson. The City of Carson which sponsored the market at the Community Center for 12 years had to let go of the market due to budgetary constraints.
     
Cheryl Roberts of the South Bay Pavilion explained that the Farmer's Market at the mall was one of their efforts to promote a “green movement”. Sharron King, general manager of the Pavilion expressed her gratitude to the City Council and the Carson Chamber of Commerce for their support."We know that this meets the need of the community," King said.
     
Carson Mayor Jim Dear led the ribbon cutting ceremony with Councilmember Lula Holmes, Chamber of Commerce president Creasie Adams, former Carson mayor protempore Julie Ruiz Raber, Walter Neil of BP Refinery, and Bess Cruz of Double Tree Hotel.
     
Dear said that the Farmer's Market is representative of the buzz at the South Bay Pavilion and the continued expansion and development of the Pavilion .
     
Rosita Pagbilao who comes from Ilocos Norte, Philippines proudly shows the fresh veggies and sweet grapes in the stall. Her niece, Nanette Andres said that they do not use pesticides at all.

They are from the Andres Farm in Orosi, near Fresno, California. The Farmer's Market which has now 40 vendors is open on Thursdays from 8 am until 1 pm.
