ON June 26, 2010, the Federal Government made big changes to the Federal Skilled Worker Program.  One of the biggest changes is to the Government’s list of eligible occupations.  Several of the most popular job categories were taken off the list, plus several new ones were added.

Canadian business programs and permanent residency

IMMIGRATING to a new country is getting harder, three of the most popular immigration destinations have recently made it more difficult to apply.  Canada, Australia, and England are slowly nudging their doors shut to new immigrants.  

Luckily, for those immigrants that have business experience and funds to invest there are still options.  In Canada there are two popular Provincial Programs, one in British Columbia and the other in Manitoba.  Both programs require the potential immigrant to invest in businesses within the respective provinces.  In return for this investment, the immigrant is awarded permanent residency in Canada.

Open for business: The revamped federal investment program

THE Federal Investment Program has been reopened.  The new investment program is still offering applicants permanent residency; however, there have been significant changes to the financial requirements.

 The Canadian Government now requires applicants to make an investment of $800,000CAD and illustrate they have a net worth of at least $1.6 Million CAD.
