Forecasts are based on charting and calculating the positions and movements of the sun, moon, stars, and planets in our cosmos. Each of these entities carries a unique energy. When these energies interact with each other, they have an effect on earth and its inhabitants.
Following are answers to questions I am often asked as we approach the Lunar New Year.
Q: What makes your forecasts different from other forecasts?
A: I don’t think there are any published feng shui forecasts based on the Flying Nine Star charts. The Flying Nine Star Theory is a level of feng shui most people are not familiar with. What sets the Liu Feng Shui Guide to a Harmonious 2009 forecasts apart from others, is that we cover global energies and the energies of your living and working environment, as well as your personal energies.
Most forecasts deal with either global or personal aspects and rarely with what to expect in your home or office. Furthermore, we don’t just give you the forecasts, we explain how the forecasts are derived and offer suggestions for action you can take to prepare for certain situations. I don’t think any other book does this.
Q: How do you and your father work together on the guidelines
A: It is a rather arduous process! We spend days calculating and analyzing the Flying Nine Star charts for the coming new year, and then compare those charts to the 20-year Period 8 chart for a comprehensive analysis. We then put our notes together for the global and home and office forecasts. We double check each other’s work and discuss any differences.
For the zodiac forecasts, my father interprets the astrological charts and I translate the information from Chinese into English. This is no easy process because there are many Chinese terms and concepts that do not exist in the English language, and it is up to me to translate the definitions into accurate layman’s terms.
Q: Is there ever a difference of opinion between you and your father when it comes to interpreting a forecast?
A: The forecasts are based on the Flying Nine Star Theory and the Five Element Theory. There are many associations with each Star and Element, so you may get different interpretations depending on which associations you use. However, as long as you follow the laws of nature presented by these theories, the interpretations are usually consistent—it’s just that you may discover a different aspect of the interpretation, which doesn’t change the interpretation, but enhances it. My father and I may see different aspects of an interpretation that is often to the reader’s advantage because it presents a more complete forecast.
Q: How should the reader use forecast information?
A: Exactly as it is stated in the title of the book! It is a guide. The final decisions rest upon your own good judgment and intuition. If you have questions or doubt, seek expert counsel.
