What a beautiful world we live in—made more meaningful by the people we meet who inspire us to be better persons because of the friendship they offer.

I’ve been fortunate to be able to meet such kind and generous people.

Please indulge yours truly as I name names. For me, sila ang mga tunay na kaibigan.

Mary Ann Pagsibigan Pimenta and Henjie Pimenta—Everlasting Love

Fate brought them two together, I believe. Mary Ann Pagsibigan, a highly accomplished businesswoman and very active community leader here in LA crossed paths with Henjie Pimenta, a younger gentlemen who came to the US as part of his prize for winning the Ginoong Pilipinas title back in the day.

The age difference between them is a non-issue. Mary Ann and Henjie share a strong bond as faithful Christians. They have placed God at the center of their relationship. That’s why despite all the challenges and the bumpy roads they have taken together, their relationship remains solid. Currently, Mary Ann runs the successful Forever Youthful skincare business based in Burbank while Henjie manages an adult day healthcare facility.

I consider them as role models. Whenever I see them together, I can feel the harmony and peace. Of course, they would be the first to tell you that they still encounter challenges in their relationship which is normal for all couples. But their faith puts it all in perspective.

To Mary Ann and now pastor Henjie, I just wanted to tell you that I treasure your friendship. May God always bless you always.

Jun Lalin—Ever Gracious Host

I’ve known Jun Lalin for more than ten years. He still remembers the exact date and circumstances of that first meeting which is amazing because my memory isn’t as sharp as his.

Whenever I’m in Manila for a visit, Jun never fails to make me feel so at home. He is so maalaga. He makes sure that I have a good time.

Jun, as you may know, is the trusted adviser/agent/publicist of Ruffa and perhaps the entire Gutierrez clan. He has gained this status because of honesty, loyalty and 100 percent dedication to his work. He is well-respected in Philippine entertainment industry as well.

Jun’s brand of humor is unique and very entertaining. Whenever he makes kuwento, he livens up the whole room.

The life Jun leads is fraught with challenges. But the way he has handled them has made me admire him all the more, especially over the past year. He has not only overcome the challenges but he’s risen above them a stronger person.
