Philippine Carnival of Beauties 2009 entries are now pouring in!

Candidates coming from different parts of Northern California are joining the biggest and most prestigious search for the fairest ladies and gentlemen at the annual Philippine Carnival of Beauties produced by beauty impresario Ferdie Villar, an icon in producing beauty pageants for five decades.  The event will be held on May 30, Sunday, at the Grand Ballroom of the Cathedral Hotel, 1101 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco at 6pm.

The titles at stake in the five-in-one beauty and popularity contest are Mrs. Republic of the Philippines-USA, Mr. & Miss Republic of the Philippines-USA and Little Mr. & Miss Republic of the Philippines-USA.

LuzViMin Association of Northern California’s Annual ‘White Christmas Ball’

Everything is set for the annual “White Christmas Ball” of the Luzon Visayas Mindanao (LuzViMin) Association of Northern California on Saturday, December 13, at the Grand Ballroom of Patio Espanol, on Alemany Street, San Francisco at 6pm.  The affair is strictly formal.

Newly-elected Daly City Councilman David Canepa will induct the officers, Board of Directors, advisers and different committee chairs at this year’s holiday celebration of the biggest Filipino-American organization here in Northern California.

Sen. Manny Villar Heads List Of Birthday Celebrants For The Merry Month Of December

This year’s Black Friday was no different from those of the previous years and there’s a notable 3 percent increase over last year.  Either people were looking for great bargains and in a way would like to help the economy, or it’s just  a hard habit to break and it is more of an escape from the financial woes prevailing in all parts of the country.

Karla Henry, first Filipina to win Miss Earth crown

After a dearth of victories, it took a lovely Cebuana named Karla Paula Henry to win in the international beauty contest circuit.  Crowned Miss Earth 2008, Karla Henry won over 85 delegates from all over the world who flew to the Philippines to be part of the pageant that was held last November 9 at the Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles City, Pampanga.  This Cebuana lass won over Miss Tanzania, Miriam Odemba as Miss Earth-Air (1st runner-up), Miss Mexico Abigail Elizalde as Miss Earth-Water (2nd runner-up), Miss Brazil Tatiane Alves as Miss Earth-Fire (3rd runner-up).

Congratulations to David Canepa for being elected as Daly City Councilmember

I would like to send a special congratulatory note to David J. Canepa for being elected as Council member in Daly City last November 4.    

Dave, who used to work as a legislative aide to Senator Leland Yee of San Francisco, was deeply inspired by Obama’s performance that he decided to join the race to the Daly City Council.
