The Power of Guardian Animals - Dragon, Phoenix, and Elephant

(1 vote, average: 5.00 out of 5)

IN OUR continuing exploration of animal guardians used in feng shui, we will take brief looks at the dragon, phoenix, and the elephant.

One of the most popular guardian animals is the dragon. The dragon, a ruler of the heavens, symbolizes the blessings of the gods. The Chinese recognize the dragon as a symbol of masculine energy, eternity, power, and authority. That is why we so often see the dragon symbol on the emperor’s robes, crowns, and furniture, and as the royal emblem.

The power of guardian animals – Chi-ling and Bishou

TODAY, I’m going to talk about two of the more obscure guardian animals that many people new to feng shui are unfamiliar with – the Chi-ling and the Bishou.

Both the Chi-ling and Bishou are connected to legends and stories, as well as a long history. There is evidence of symbols of these animals found during the Han dynasties. The common thread found throughout the stories about the Chi-ling and the Bishou is that they were used for protection.

Guardian animals and the power of symbols

THE next few articles in my column are dedicated to a fascinating and vital aspect of feng shui we call "guardian animals." As a child, I dreamt a lot about guardian animals. We had many of these sculptures in our home and I always wondered what they were for and why we weren’t allowed to touch or move them. Before we get into the specific guardian animals that are used in feng shui, I want to remind you about the power of symbolism.

The art and the science of symbolism play a very important role in feng shui. Whether you are aware of them or not, symbols are all around you impacting your subconscious mind. As you receive visual information, your mind collects it and tries to make sense of it. This happens very naturally and involuntarily.

Get a massage every day if possible for proper circulation and rejuvenation. If you can only get a massage once a week or once a month, it is better than nothing. It is important to find a masseuse who’s personality and technique feel right to you. If you balk at the idea of paying for these services, remember that you are not only paying for the masseuse’s skill, but for the fact that they absorb your negative energy and have to spend time after your session releasing it.

Take control of your health and look younger (Part 1 of 2)

THERE are at least 130 factors that contribute to a person’s well-being. Some of the factors are what you’re given and can’t be changed, and others you do have control over. In this article you will find plenty of areas where you can make adjustments and increase your chances for a youthful, healthy life.

Genetics play a part in your health and in how you age. If your parents maintain a youthful appearance, chances are you will benefit from that. Karma plays a role in genetics, too. A person with a karma of suffering will definitely age more than someone who experiences good luck throughout their life. The burial spot of your ancestors also affects your genetics. Even when dead, a person continues to absorb energy from mother earth in the burial ground, which is transferred to the genes and frequencies of the children.

Provide a positive Feng Shui foundation for good health

FEW people realize there is more to staying healthy and youthful than exercise, eating well, and using the right skin care. The bottom line is no matter how nutritious the food you eat may be, no matter how often you get a whole body cleansing, and no matter how much you exercise, if you live in an environment with poor feng shui, or live among people who have poor feng shui, you are susceptible to illness, stress, and other defeating elements that can degrade your health and age you.

Your health and youth is comprised of more than just your physical body and the simple maintenance of it. It is affected by your psychological and spiritual well-being, your relationships to others, and to your environment. Your body and soul are connected; they are a reflection of each other. When you are spiritually and psychologically happy, and live a blissful life, your golden pink aura, vibrant face, and active body reflects this. When your body is taken care of, well fed, not polluted and weighed down by toxins, your mind is sharp and can better focus on your spiritual development and wellness, rather than the stress that poor health brings.

The way to all good things starts with health

WHEN we talk about feng shui, we focus mostly on our environment – both interior and exterior – and how it affects the many aspects of our well-being. Of prime importance is how the environment affects our health, for without good health, how are we to enjoy the other benefits life has to offer or affect other’s lives in a positive manner? In this age of fast-paced living and immediate gratification, it is more important than ever to maintain strong health.

Cultivate balance in your life. It is not good enough to simply look healthy on the outside, you must provide nutrition and rest to your body’s internal systems – both biological and mental. Some people work to hard, disregarding the toll it takes on their physical and mental well-being. Their body suffers with disease, fatigue, and weakness, and their minds become crowded and unclear.

Compatible vs. incompatible Feng Shui

IN A recent case, the Bergamo’s - a family of three generations living under one - roof experienced first hand the cause and effect of compatible vs. incompatible feng shui among their family members. Without err, the laws of nature ran their course and family members fared accordingly in their rooms.

The Bergamo family consists of a mother, Lola, her two daughters, Cecil and Marge, her son Darwin, as well as Cecil’s husband Anthony and their daughter Zoe. Lola, Darwin, and Anthony all belong to the Western Direction Pattern, while Cecil, Marge, and Zoe belong to the Eastern Direction Pattern.

What your facial features reveal

TO finish up our series on feng shui for the face, I will focus on a few of the main facial features and some of the attributes we pay attention to when analyzing faces. Though I cannot cover every detail of feature shape, size, and color in this article, you will get an idea of the kinds of things that factor into a face reading.

The forehead is related with the south, the element of fire, and with heaven. It is the major feature of the first third of the face, so its size determines if it creates balance with the other two thirds of the face. Reading the qualities of the forehead, we can glean information regarding your husband (if you are female), your parents, energy that comes from ancestral burial plots, scholarship, promotion, travel, and karma. The attributes of the forehead also give great insight into a person’s potential for political power and authority, making it a very important feature. If your forehead is too high and creates imbalance with the rest of your face, you can try covering it up with hair, such as a style with bangs. If it is too narrow, you can consider some professional hair removal on either side of the temples to widen its appearance.
