Liu Feng Shui Grand View Factor 11: Culture

E-mail Print

LIU FENG Shui Grand View is the trademark philosophy developed by Grand Master Chi-Jen Liu. From decades of research and experience in feng shui and related studies, he has defined 130 factors that affect who you are.

These factors are energy forces that influence your well-being and success in life. They can affect you at any given time and their strength varies depending on your priorities, stage of life, way of life, and your awareness. The holistic consideration of all of these influential factors, or grand view perspective, gives you the ability to truthfully see yourself within the context of your life.

The 130 factors can be categorized into two types: 1) predestined and 2) adjustable. You have little control over the predestined factors that established the foundation of your life. The adjustable factors are more easily changed and developed to promote your well-being. Because everything is connected, when you improve one factor, you trigger a chain reaction that affects other factors and creates positive change in your life.

This article series on Grand View Feng Shui will reveal the 130 factors so that you can explore how these forces define and affect who you are. Hopefully, this awareness inspires you to make adjustments for the better.

Factor #11: Culture

Every culture has their customs, traditions, and philosophies. Depending on the history and the sophistication of their culture, people deal with and perceive the world differently. As an example, the American culture solves problems based on 200 years of experience, whereas the Eastern culture solves problems based on over 5,000 years of experience.

People are also perceived differently depending on what appears to be their culture. Oftentimes, people are stereotyped based on the culture they appear to belong to whether or not they really had that specific cultural upbringing or influence. These assumptions can determine how people are treated.

Being born into a culture that deals with hierarchy, power, or relationships in a certain way impacts how a person makes decisions, which affects their life. For instance, if you are a woman in some Middle Eastern countries your physical body must be completely shrouded and you live your life subordinate to your male superiors. In Asian countries, it is generally accepted that elderly parents live with and are cared for by their children. In certain parts of Europe, sex is not repressed and prostitution is legal. There are Latin countries where death is not feared, but celebrated as part of life.

Your culture can be so deeply rooted in you that you may not be able to separate from it or even realize how much it affects your choices in life. Examining your cultural roots can lead to new beliefs and perceptions that add clarity to your life.
