SIX months prior to each lunar new year, my father, Grandmaster Chi Jen Liu, and I analyze the Flying Nine Star Charts along with the Yi-Jing, Five Elements, and Chinese Almanac and interpret forecasts of what is in store for the upcoming year.
These powerful tools have been passed down to us for generations. When interpreted correctly, they allow us to understand the cause and effect energies that occur during certain periods of time within the nine directions (eight cardinal directions plus the center) of the world, and help us to forecast events.
Due to the many associations of the Nine Stars and Five Elements, we are not able to provide all possible interpretations in this article series, however, we are providing the key interpretations for 2012.
North 7, 5, 2 - Female Rising
Iceland, Scandinavia, Canada, South/North Dakota, Minnesota
Feminine Earth Star 2 overcomes the north water energies. Associated to female authority, this brings strong matrons into leadership positions, especially in northern regions such as Chicago, Montana, Canada, and Scandinavia. Females will replace males in the work force, which increases male unemployment. In the workplace, there will be a trend of social relationships between older women and younger men.
Out-of-cycle Star 2 is related to ailments and dis”ease.” This means that civilians may suffer epidemics and injustice. Female leaders will be placed in leadership roles to address these challenges. Their relationships and methods with civilians will be unprecedented. Though it is challenging, civilians and female leaders will take a stand in northern regions.
Explosive Stars 7 and 5 create an energy of bleeding, injury, warfare, and unexpected violence. Northern regions such as Egypt and Libya continue to experience civil unrest and uprising. Along with Star 2, this can bring sickness, robbery, and looting.
Over the 20-year period, the double fiery energies of Stars 9 and 7 show that the temperature in the northern hemisphere will continue to rise and melt glaciers in the North Pole. It will appear as if Mother Earth’s children in the form of flora and fauna will come out to battle. There may be unexpected new plant allergens and insect and animal attacks from northern regions. As the ice melts in the Arctic, many strange ancient species are released into a world that is not immune to them. Air crashes, earthquakes, and volcanic activity will occur in the north.
Northeast 5, 7, 9 - Stars of Hope
Russia, Mongolia, Tibet, Japan, Korea, China, New York
Fire Star 9 promotes the northeast earth energies. This mountain fire gua will provide a pyrotechnic display of celebrations of success and improved economies in northeast regions. On the other hand, like most fireworks, these glorious displays are short-lived and temporary illusions of grandeur. For example, regions in northeast Asia, like Beijing, may put on a good show when presenting their culture in the media, however their purpose may be to attract tourists and increase manufacturing and selling more than preserving and sharing authentic cultural knowledge.
Nonetheless, all eyes are on northeast regions from Beijing, Korea, and Japan, to New York as they develop and rebuild. Star 9 is a feminine and attractive energy that brings out the femme fatale. New female actresses who shine appear in high definition for the world to see. Films, art, and entertainment that feature unusual and powerful female roles thrive and boost the media sector.
Stars 5 and 7 bring fiery energy to the northeast. Northeast regions will contend with fire disasters or burning. Japan will continue dealing with the challenges of last year’s nuclear radiation leak. Related to the lungs, Star 7 shows that these regions will suffer from smog, pollution, and an increase of smoking that raises respiratory ailments. The violating female energies of Star 7 along with Star 5 spur prostitution, sexual diseases, and mafia or terrorist activities. Although wealth does come to the northeast regions, it is not without consequences. Greed and short-term gain will always be limiting and self-defeating. Stars 7 and 5 also indicate explosions or crashes such as air collisions.
Over the 20-year period on the positive side, Stars 9 and 2 reinforce the appearance of female scholars, leaders, and celebrities. On the negative side, out-of-cycle Star 2 can bring theft, corruption, and unusual geological earth plate movement to northeast regions.
