WHEN we talk about feng shui, we focus mostly on our environment – both interior and exterior – and how it affects the many aspects of our well-being. Of prime importance is how the environment affects our health, for without good health, how are we to enjoy the other benefits life has to offer or affect other’s lives in a positive manner? In this age of fast-paced living and immediate gratification, it is more important than ever to maintain strong health.

Cultivate balance in your life. It is not good enough to simply look healthy on the outside, you must provide nutrition and rest to your body’s internal systems – both biological and mental. Some people work to hard, disregarding the toll it takes on their physical and mental well-being. Their body suffers with disease, fatigue, and weakness, and their minds become crowded and unclear.

With no health, you get no wealth! If you have no health and no wealth, you also diminish your chances for a fulfilling relationship. The stresses of vulnerable health and financial struggle will either prevent you from finding a lasting relationship, or cause you to be a burden on an already established relationship.

Find the point of optimum health for yourself and don’t mimic someone else’s health regimen. Every person is unique with different requirements for remaining healthy. Some people require a smaller amount of exercise to maintain acceptable health, while others require a more intense routine. What’s right for you depends on many factors, including the genes you inherit and karma.

Don’t confuse being healthy with being athletic or bursting with muscles. Being healthy primarily has to do with your organs, which keep your body going day after day. Your heart, lungs, stomach, liver, bladder, kidneys, bone, skin, blood vessels, nerves, brain – all of these and more are the vital elements that keep the chi flowing throughout your body. It only takes one unhealthy organ to affect the rest of the organs and cause the body to work inefficiently. Keep your organs strong with the proper nutrition and exercise and keep your circulation in top condition so that chi flows easily throughout your body.

There are many people who look like they are healthy as a result of medicines, drugs or quick fixes that they get from the doctor, but if not used with full knowledge of their effects, these may prove to compromise your health in the long run. Many times, these treatments give the illusion of health by masking the symptoms, but they do not treat the root of the unhealthiness. Natural or holistic methods of treatment are geared toward correcting the source of the ailment, whether physical or mental.
