THE last part of this series of articles highlights a few of the events that were forecasted to occur in 2009 by Liu Feng Shui, Inc. These articles illustrate the benefits of forecasts – global, as well as personal. A forecast can tell you if the current energy is strong or weak for you. This way you can take action to absorb the positive energy or fortify yourself against the negative.
West - 2
With Star 2 in the west in 2009, we forecasted that western countries, such as the United States and its west coast regions, might experience fire and suffer increased pollution. The overlap of fire Star 9’s appearance in the center regions and the presence of fire energy in the western United States was realized in the Station Fire in Angeles National Forest - one of the largest fires this year on the west coast.
Star 2 also brought an energy of ailment to the west direction that is associated to the respiratory system. Indeed, President Obama declared the Swine Flu pandemic a national emergency.
An earth element, Star 2 fed the strong, ambitious feminine metal energy of the west direction. This led us to forecast that female-owned businesses related to entertainment, wellness, health, spirituality, and relationships would play a big part in refueling the western economy. The enlightening article, "The American Woman" that was featured in Time Magazine’s October 2009 issue revealed irrefutable stats confirming the dominance of female power in business. It stated that females made up over 50% of the work force in 2009.
Star 2 is also an energy of money loss or job loss. The United States economy suffered greatly in 2009 with the unemployment rate hitting double digits.
Sitting Star 3 was defeated by facing metal Star 6, and indicated conflicts between lawyers and politicians, and between the judicial and executive branches of governments in the west. Due to the economy, the federal government (a leadership association with Star 6) made budget cuts in almost all state departments (associated to Star 3) causing great stress on both sides. On the west coast of the United States, California faced one of the worst financial shortfalls of all of the states.
Southwest - 6
Metal Star 6 (associated with government leaders) in the southwest meant that governments in southwest regions would play a part in triggering economic growth and increased commerce. However, because Star 6 was untimely, we forecasted that wealth for leaders and bosses would come with complaints and dissatisfaction from their staff or civilians. Early last year, the United States House of Representatives introduced an economic recovery stimulus package that entailed spending roughly $550 billion and making tax cuts of $275 billion.
Northeast - 3
Star 3 in the northeast had the potential to bring pediatric digestive ailments acquired from polluted or contaminated food. Among several cases of food quality control issues, one of the headlines in 2009 was the tainted baby formula in China that killed several infants. The number of diagnosed cases of illness caused by bacterial infection, such as salmonella, rose in 2009. Among those affected, children under 4 years old were sickened more than any other group, and adults over 30 years old suffered more hospitalizations and death due to food poisoning than usual.
The wood energies of Star 3 conflicted with the northeast earth energies. Because Star 3 relates to political issues and scholarship, and the northeast is associated to children, we forecasted that children’s education would likely suffer in 2009. The New York Times reported that education funding and performance level declined in the United States compared to the rest of the world. The latest stats revealed that an American student drops out of high school every 26 seconds.
