Liu Feng Shui grand view factor 3: Parents’ background

E-mail Print

LIU FENG Shui Grand View is the trademark philosophy developed by Grand Master Chi-Jen Liu. From decades of research and experience in feng shui and related studies, he has defined 130 factors that affect who you are. This holistic consideration of the many factors, or grand view perspective, gives you the ability to see yourself within the context of your life.

Each factor is an energy force that influences your well-being and success in life. They can affect you at any given time and their strength varies depending on your priorities, stage of life, way of life, and your awareness.

The 130 factors can be categorized into two types: predestined and adjustable. You have little control over the predestined factors that established the foundation of your life. The adjustable factors are more easily changed and developed to promote your well-being.

Everything is connected. When you improve one factor, you trigger a chain reaction that affects other factors and creates positive change in your life.

This article series will reveal the 130 factors so that you can explore how these forces define and affect who you are, and hopefully be inspired to make adjustments for the better.

 Factor #3: Parents’ background

On the most basic level, your parents’ level of education and social status will inevitably influence your success in life. This will in many ways determine how they raise you. Are your parents liberal or conservative? Are they more scientific or artistic? Are they high school or college graduates?

To a lesser degree, but still a part of your parents’ background that will have an impact on you are their personal attitudes toward the key areas of life, such as health, love relationships, work, and money. The type of food your parents eat, how your parents express themselves, their health habits and personal hygiene, as well as how they treat their career and money all play a part in who you are and your potential in life. You may choose to imitate your parents in these areas, or do exactly the opposite.

Being born into wealth and higher education does not guarantee the same life for you, just as being born into a struggling household with lesser formal education does not dictate a life of poverty.

Some very successful and highly educated people come from struggling families. Perhaps the family’s poverty instilled the need to work hard and think creatively in order to overcome that status. Several of today’s famous and wealthy entrepreneurs grew up in a poor household. Some do not have college degrees and some do not even have high school degrees. Because of their economic situation or inability to fit into the school system, they were forced to think “out-of-the-box” – a highly valued trait for innovators and entrepreneurs. This is not to say education is not vital to a strong foundation of success, but there are different types and levels of intelligence that do not necessarily flourish within standardized conventions.

Conversely, someone who is born to parents who are both well-educated and financially endowed may be well provided for but do not have the opportunity to do things for themselves. They may not have to work as hard, which could stifle their independence, drive, or ability to think creatively.

Even if these two people end up at the same social and financial level, they will likely have different ways of looking at life and making decisions because of their very different backgrounds. Understanding your parent’s background may help you see more clearly why you are where you are today.
