Beauty experts will always be coming out with trends in bridal make-up every season, every year but the TIMELESS look is fail-safe option for brides who want to look classically stunning.
The timeless look is the natural look. It takes expert hands with aid of new technology to make one look like they don’t have make-up on, even if of course they do.
When done properly, the effect makes for a naturally glowing bride.
Working with high-profile brides such as Donita Rose and more recently Joyce Jimenez, I’ve had to bring my A-game every time to make sure that these beautiful women, whose every move is watched and scrutinized by the public, live up to their celebrity status.
For Joyce, who tied the knot in August 2008 to Paul Ely Egbalic, I used a more modern technique called Velvet Spray Airbrush Make-Up.
First of all, let me say that Joyce may be one of the most relaxed and composed brides I’ve ever worked with. What more can a stylist ask for? A gorgeous bride who does not have the "bridezilla" complex is always a bonus.
Weeks prior to the wedding day, Joyce and I met for a consultation. Many brides take the consultation for granted and that’s why on the day of the wedding, stress arises because of the lack of direction with the styling.
Joyce and I previously discussed how she wanted her hair and makeup done. She also described her dress which was especially designed for her by the fabulous Frederick Peralta.
For her look, she was specific about wanting the Grecian-Troy era-inspired glamour. It’s southeast European chic with a carefree touch. We had an exchange of styling ideas and on her wedding day, we worked toward this goal.
We started with setting her hair and followed by the application of the Monet Salon Velvet Spray Airbrush Make-Up. It was Joyce’s first-time to try Velvet Spray and she was tickled by the idea that it was being sprayed on instead of the regular make-up application.
Joyce has typical Filipino skintone, which is in the medium brown to fair shade, so on her I had to use my formula--medium oriental shades. The combination suited her natural complexion. This is actually my specialty—natural-looking flawlessness and for a natural beauty like Joyce, it totally hit the target!
When we were done with the airbrushed foundation, Joyce looked so fresh, dewy and naturally glowing, which was the goal.
