Ruffa and John Lloyd: Love Under Fire

It seems my friend Ruffa Gutierrez is in the entertainment headlines once again. People have always been so fascinated with her lovelife or lack thereof.

You may have heard that she’s celebrating her birthday with her US-based fans and friends on Sunday, June 28th at the CBS Lot in Studio City.

I’ve been receiving not only inquiries about the event but also questions concerning the hot "issue" between Ruffa and young actor John Lloyd Cruz or Lloydie.

Much to my amusement, people have been offering their opinion about the issue with a tone of concern, as if Ruffa was their own sister or best friend. Nakakutuwa.

Personally, I can’t comment because there’s been no confirmation from both sides. But I can say that my stand is, whatever makes Ruffa happy--I’m there!

In the middle of the issue is, of course, the protective mother hen of Ruffa, Annabel Rama. Bisaya is understandbly concerned, having seen Ruffa go through struggles in past relationships.

I’ve decided to share several comments from different people who cared enough to email me their views.

Rowena, West Covina CA:

So what if Ruffa and John Lloyd are dating? If they love each other, that’s what matters. I don’t think age or status is an issue. Ruffa deserves to be happy. I think John Lloyd is a sweet guy. We’ve seen Ruffa struggle with her marriage before. She deserves this. She needs romance in her life.

Alina, El Monte CA:

Ano ba yan?! We love John Lloyd! We want him to be for Sarah Geronimo or Bea Alonzo only! Mas ka-level niya ang dalawang dalagang ito. Ruffa is a little more advanced na compared kay John Lloyd.
