I’m so humbled by the responses I get every week from topics that I write about in this column. Thank you for your reactions and readership.
As I’ve said before, I’m not a professional journalist/writer but as a keen observer of Fil-Am pop culture, I’m honored to be able to break down my personal musings about happenings in our community, showbiz, entertainment, fashion, style and trends.
I’m so glad I have this opportunity to share my insights. I’ve always believed the most important thing in life is to experience its beauty and share it with others.
One person I know who has truly experienced the ups and downs of life graciously is ms. Lorna Tolentino.
We all know how extremely trying life has been for her over the past year, having lost the love of her life to cancer.
LT has been grief-stricken and devastated by the passing of Rudy Fernandez but she has never doubted the mystery and power of God.
She is comforted by the fact that she was there for him, every step of the way, hoping against hope.
LT was a thorough caretaker to Rudy. She was cook, housekeeper, laundry woman, Girl Friday, and most of all, trusted friend to her beloved husband while he underwent cancer treatment here in the US.
She was glad to do it. To her, it was the last she could do in the face of Rudy’s deteroriating health.
Less than a year later, LT has began to make peace with his death. You can see it in her eyes, her smile, and overall aura.
Recently, LT was part of an inspirational effort to give comfort to people whose lives have been shaken by tragedy, such as terminal diseases, in the family.
Through an inspiration music CD, LT bared her sentiments as she struggles to heal from the loss of a dear husband. At the same time, she also did it to help others who are facing the same situation.
"Maganda kasi na para mas matulungan mo ang sarili mo, dapat tumulong ka rin sa iba. This is one way of helping other people," said LT. In the album, LT sings two songs entitled Far From Home and Kalooban Mo.
Slowly but surely, LT is moving forward with her life post Rudy with help from her children, family and friends.
I was so happy to see her get back to work, doing what she does best: acting & performing. The original Victorian queen and ultimate actress is once again sharing her talent with us, her avid fans, through an upcoming telenovela.
