Ruffa Guitierrez

After all these years, I still get asked the same common hair questions from readers and clients.

So here I am once again with the answers.

Question 1: I’ve had my hair straightened and colored several weeks ago. Now I’m experiencing hair breakage. What should I do?

Answer:
First of all, seek consultation with a hair expert. It sounds like you have a case of overprocessed, damaged hair. You wore out your hair more than it can withstand with two major treatments--rebonding and coloring. You should always exercise caution when subjecting your hair to more than one major chemical treatment. What I feel you need now is some major boost of moisturizing. I would recommend an IRTreatment but come see me first so we can determine the best solution.

Question 2: I dyed my hair blond over two months ago. Now it’s gone rusty blond and a lot of my roots is showing plus there’s some dryness at the ends of my hair. It’s terrible and I don’t really want to be seen with this hair now. What do you recommend?

Answer: I would suggest that go back to your natural color with some tinting. Depending on what skin tone you have, reddish brown and gold is "in" right now. I actually recommend "Parisian
Fantasy" - it’s a blend of rich colors that flatters people with medium to tan complexion.

Question 3: I wish to have hair that really shines. I have never exposed my hair to chemical or damaging treatments. But my hair is just not shiny!

Answer: I guess you have never tried our Shimmer and Shine Treatment or even the Hair
Reborn System. If you were born with hair that isn’t glossy to begin with, you’re not doing it any favor by not doing anything about it. Shimmer and Shimmer or the Hair Reborn System are designed to add or replenish moisture to hair. Dry hair will not shine. Try us!

Question 4: Monet, I need your advice. My hair is falling. I also happen to have bald spots, around three of them that I can count. It’s been a source of embarrassment for me. What should I do?

Answer: I hate to say it but you may have alopecia areata, a scalp condition that’s sometimes called "spot baldness." First thing’s first, go to your doctor. Have it examined. Afterwards, come visit me. I can recommend you a scalp herbal treatment using mud from South Africa.

In conclusion, I would like to address a myth that most of my clients have been predisposed to thinking.
That hair maintenance is not that important, especially after color treatment or straightening or perming treatment. It’s key to know that whenever you subject your hair to chemicals, you need to inject moisture into your hair so that it doesn’t dry out. It will benefit you to seek follow-up treatments that invovle deep conditioning to avoid most of the common hair issues. I also would like to point out that supermarket shampoos and other haircare products have too much alcohol content to serve your hair well. I do have some highly recommended products that will save your hair from going dry.If you wish to make an appointment at my Las Vegas salon please call 702-617-1200.
