Aquino urges Filipinos to take part in government's initiatives to achieve sustainable progress

President Benigno S. Aquino III urged the people to take part in government efforts to bring the country to real progress and development through the “daang matuwid” and get rid of the graft and corrupt practices in the bureaucracy as he promised that those who will abide by these reforms will be rewarded while those who will do otherwise will face the consequences of their malevolent deeds.

In his speech during the 110th Founding Anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Customs (BoC) at the BoC Social Hall in Port Area, Manila on Monday, President Aquino encouraged the Filipinos, especially those working in the BoC, to continue supporting the Aquino government’s initiatives to achieve sustainable progress saying that good deeds will be rewarded.

Palace expects immediate passage of Freedom of Information Bill

Malacanang expressed hope that the proposed substitute Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill will be approved soon by the present Congress, according to a Palace official.

Undersecretary Manuel Quezon III of the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) said the Aquino administration hopes that the legislators will pass it in the second regular session of the 15th Congress.

PH gov’t, World Bank Sign financing agreement to improve delivery of services to poor towns and provinces

MANILA—The Department of Finance (DOF), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), and the World Bank signed today a tripartite loan agreement for a project designed to promote investments in local public infrastructure and services.

Approved by the World Bank Board of Executive Directors on December 1, 2011, this new US$50 million financing will fund the Regional Infrastructure for Growth Project (RIGP) designed to stimulate physical and economic integration among a number of local government units (LGUs) as well as support post-disaster initiatives through improved access to finance.

The Philippines' president, Benigno Aquino III, told reporters Wednesday that, yes, he is dating again. This time it's a South Korean woman who grew up in Manila and works there as a TV show host and radio disc jockey.

Aquino leads launching of Philippines Business Registry System

President Benigno S. Aquino III led the launching Friday of the Philippines Business Registry System (PBRS) in Makati City which is aimed at streamlining business registrations in the country and eliminating red tape.

The PBRS is a web-based system that will serve as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs who want to transact or register their businesses. The computerized registration systems will link several agencies so that applicants can register businesses even without their presence.
