MANILA  – Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is turning down offers to become the running mate of Defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro, the Arroyo administration’s candidate in next year’s elections.

The actor-politician, instead, is seeking re-election in May 2010.

In a statement, Revilla said he is asking his Lakas-Kampi party mates to take his name off the list of choices to be Teodoro’s running mate.

Revilla also thanked his party mates for considering him for the post but after a series of consultations with his supporters, he said he has decided to continue serving as senator.

He also claimed that he met with a high ranking party official last weekend who made an offer to become the administration’s vice presidential candidate.
