MANILA - Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore is set to visit Manila in April to present his climate protection advocacy.
Gore will come to the country to keynote the third staging of the Leadership Conference Series -- a string of lectures aimed at allowing top Philippine leaders from the academe, business, government, and non-government sectors to learn from the experience and expertise of global leaders.
To be held on April 30, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Mall of Asia Complex, Part 3 of the Leadership Conference Series will have Gore present an Asian version of "An Inconvenient Truth," the provocative multi-media presentation on the threat of climate change and solutions to global warming and the subject of the movie of the same title, which has won critical and box-office acclaim.
The Academy Award-winning film is already considered one of the top documentary films of all time.
Gore has just published "Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis," his latest book which compiles all of the most effective available measures that will help solve the climate crisis.
The environmental advocate will be brought in by SM Prime Holdings Inc.
"We have always been committed to environmental preservation. Beyond our many environmental programs, we feel that we can further spread the advocacy by having more people learn about this global problem and how it impacts each and everyone of us. This is why we are bringing in the world's most influential authority on climate change. We want the urgency of his message to be heard by Filipino leaders as well as Filipinos in general," SMPH president Hans Sy said in a press statement.
Tickets to Leadership Conference Series 3 presents "Al Gore: The Leader As Environment Steward" are now available at TicketNet (911-5555 or www.ticketnet.com.ph) and all SM branches.
