Dolphins save Puerto Princesa fisherman

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY - Ronnie Dabal needed a miracle to survive the cold and treacherous waters of Puerto Bay that fateful Monday, December 8.

Early in the morning while fishing for tuna in the choppy waters of Puerto Princesa Bay, a squall came upon him and turned his boat upside down.

Pacquiao statue going up in GenSan

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines – Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao's Canadian friend and adviser has agreed to chip in some money for the immediate completion of his life-size bronze statue, which the city government plans to erect.

Michael Koncz did not say how much he was willing to pitch in for the statue, which will be put up in front of the General Santos City Hall.

Thousands mark human rights anniversary

ILOILO CITY - Around 2,500 protesters joined a march rally here to mark the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights.

The Iloilo rallyists led by the militant Bagong Alyasang Makabayan (New Patriotic Alliance) assembled at the public plazas of Molo and Jaro Districts before marching to the grounds of the Iloilo provincial capitol where a program was held.

Quezon folk to cast historic vote

LUCENA CITY – The people of Quezon will vote in a historic plebiscite on Dec. 13 to decide whether to allow the province’s division into two separate political units – Quezon del Sur and Quezon del Norte.

In the past 20 days, the run-up to the campaign reached feverish pitch as the “Yes” and “No” advocates used every old trick in the election campaign manual of traditional politicians.

Guimaras gov stranded too in Thailand

BACOLOD CITY -- Guimaras Governor Felipe Nava and his wife, as well as a sugar mill executive and his wife from Bacolod City, are among more than a hundred Filipinos stranded in Thailand which they were visiting on business trips or as tourists.

Thai protesters have ceased and occupied the Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Tuesday night and blockaded the old Don Muang airport early Thursday.
