MANILA - Senator Manuel Villar Jr. topped the third quarter Social Weather Station survey of public satisfaction ratings on public officials other than the president, but his positive 43 percent rating was nine points lower than that posted in the second quarter.
His net satisfaction rating of plus 43 (61 percent satisfied, 17 percent dissatisfied; difference due to rounding off) in the third quarter was taken from the September 24 to 27 survey, almost two months before he stepped down as Senate president to avert a coup.
This rating was described by SWS as "good." His plus 52 rating in the second quarter was "very good."
The ratings of Vice President Noli De Castro, House Speaker Prospero Nograles and Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno barely changed.
De Castro received a "good" rating of plus 34 (58 percent satisfied, 24 percent dissatisfied), three points lower than his rating in the previous quarter.
Nograles' rating remained "poor". However, his minus12 rating (24 percent satisfied, 36 percent dissatisfied) is a slight improvement from his record-low rating of minus15 last June.
Puno's minus 3 rating (29 percent satisfied, 33 percent dissatisfied; rounded off) belongs to the neutral level, like his previous rating of plus 3.
Public satisfaction with the performances of top government institutions also did not change significantly.
Satisfaction ratings of the Senate and the House of Representatives remained at the "moderate" level (plus 21 and plus 11, respectively). The Senate's current rating is six points lower than its rating last June, while the House rating was unchanged.
The Supreme Court and the Cabinet saw an increase in ratings, but these remained at the neutral level (plus 9 and minus-3, respectively).
The non-commissioned survey of 1,500 adults has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.5 percent.
