Ogie and Regine, with their ‘baby’ George. Inquirer.net photoIt’s been almost a month since Ogie Alcasid made a public announcement about his engagement and plans to marry long-time girlfriend Regine Velasquez slated at the end of this year. In preparation for this event, the bride-to-be flew to the US last Saturday, August 28, to meet Hollywood-based Filipina designer Monique Lhuillier, who will be designing her wedding gown.

Days prior to Regine’s flight, PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the opportunity to interview the songbird about the proposal, Ogie’s promise of making her happy, some of her fears and the sacrifice she’s willing to make for the marriage.

Regine disclosed to PEP that the real "marriage proposal" happened three years ago and at that time, Ogie had just filed the petition for annulment from his previous marriage. It took 3 years for that petition to be granted that is why the engagement only became public just last month.

She also shared that the engagement ring was from Ogie’s mom. When Ogie told his parents about his intention to finally propose to Regine, his mom gave him a diamond ring, which is a family heirloom.

As of the moment, Regine is happy with the way things are going, especially now that they are finally getting married. The relationship is on its 8th year and Ogie never fails to make her happy. He was true to what he said to Regine at his announcement on Party Pilipinas, "I promise you, I will make you the happiest woman on earth."

She is ecstatic with the turn of events—the annulment, the wedding and the freedom to finally marry the man she loves. "I guess yung feeling ngayon, it’s a little bit different from before. Kasi now, exciting kasi may wedding. Plus we’re free. Yun ang nararamdaman ko, we’re free. Masaya naman kami noong nagtatago kami. Exciting sakin yun e. Plus parang nung ako lang ang may alam, masaya rin ako. It was the only thing that I have. Parang being in the business, alam na lang lahat ng tao. So it was the only thing na ako lang ang may alam. Parang it’s mine, parang ganon. It was exciting. But now, it’s out and the annulment is granted already, I feel free."
