LOS ANGELES – Pinay runner Joy Rojas is back on the trail again.

The day after Rojas received clearance from her doctor to resume running, Rojas was back in St. Louis to continue her Takbong Pangarap TransUSA run across the United States of America.

Her eyes are set on the New York finish line.

"I love being back on the road," said Rojas to the Asian Journal.

"I’m so happy. We didn’t waste any time. The moment me and Mat found out, we left for St. Louis."

For the past six-weeks, Rojas had been in Los Angeles rehabbing two stress fractures and a torn muscle on the left side of her pelvis. The injury occurred when she was running in Kansas in August.

Rojas had started her Takbong Pangarap run at the Eagle Rock Plaza in Los Angeles, California on May 10. She had set September 8 as the day she would cross the New York finish line. However, after completing more than 1,000 miles crossing states Nevada and Colorado, she sustained a hip injury in Kansas. She halted her run in St. Louis, Missouri.

Rojas’ doctor said the wear and tear of running 25 to 30 miles a day during those three months led to the injury.

The injury hasn’t deterred Rojas from finishing her project.
