Mixing and mingling with Martin Nieverra last October 12th were physicians from the Philippines practicing in Las Vegas .
But the exclusive gathering of doctors with the concert king of the Philippines was not an entirely festive affair.
The cocktail event was actually organized to launch Operation Ondoy, the latest humanitarian project of the Philippine Medical Association of Nevada (PMAN).
Between soulful serenades and witty spiels, Martin appealed to guests to donate funds, items and services to victims of typhoon Ondoy in Manila . "We all have a role in helping brothers and sisters who are in need of help," Martin said.
Gracing the event was Consul General Mary Jo Aragon, while others who were invited included Filipino entrepreneurs and community leaders in Las Vegas .
PMANpresident Dr. Benito Calderon said the goal of the event was to create awareness on the needs of victims of the typhoon.
For his part, PMANpublic relations officer Dr. Noel Fajardo said he is grateful to friends who have come together to make the fundraising event a success.
"Ihope that this has inspired everyone that in our own little ways, collectively, we can all make a difference," he said.
