SEVERAL exporters from North Luzon and officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) North Philippines, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Philippine Exporters Confederation (PHILEXPORT), Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) and the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council are in Los Angeles to promote their products and services to the Fil-Am market in Southern California.
The trade delegation held a mini trade fair at the Seafood City Eagle Rock Plaza Oct. 17-18 to showcase the Philippine-made products. The Honorable Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo -Aragon and Archimedes Gomez, Trade Representative of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Los Angeles, welcomed the Philippine Exporters and opened the mini trade show to the public.
The trade fair participants include: Amanda’s Marine Products; Anjo Farms, Inc.; Arjan’s Vegetarian Foods; ADDS Enterprise; Bonsure Evergreen International Corp; Cormel Foods; Pervil Cosmetics; and San Fernando LGU.
Amanda’s Marine Products include smoked fish, dried fish, and sauteed shrimp paste (bagoong). Anjo Farms, Inc sells different varieties of milkfish prime belly – adobo, sisig, barbeque, teriyaki, native sausage, curry and spring roll. Among the products of Arjan’s Vegetarian Foods are vege beef steak (Filipino style), vege corned beef, vege burger, vege smoked chicken, and vege sausage. Bonsure sells Viande tuna flakes, which is already being exported to HongKong, China and Taiwan. Adds Enterprise distributes homemade dry roasted cashew nuts, greaseless peanuts and chichacorn which are all-natural. Cormel Foods produces vinegar and fruit wines using sugarcane and local fruits such as sugarcane vinegar (sukang Iloko), pickled chili pepper, sugarcane wine (basi), blackberry (duhat) wine and nina wine using duhat and bugnay fruits. Pervil Cosmetic products include the Pervil Magic Cream, Soap and Lotion which are popular skin whiteners and moisturizers. The San Fernando Pampanga LGU is promoting parols or Christmas lanterns made in Pampanga.
The officials from Subic Bay and Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCADC) stated that they helped organized the event to promote the facilities of Subic Bay and Clark.
A press conference was held Oct 19 at the Philippine Consulate Office in LA wherein the Philippine exporters were introduced to members of media and welcomed to Los Angeles by Con-Gen Mary Jo Aragon and Trade Attaché Archimedes Gomez.
From Oct. 20-21, the exporters showcased their products at the Radisson LA Westside Hotel in Culver City, CA.
"We’re very happy with the overwhelming response we got from the market," said Atty. Carminda Fabros of SCADC. " It is the thrust of our chaiman, Sec. Edgardo Pamintuan, to promote the Subic-Clark Corridor, not only in California but across America," she added. (Cynthia de Castro/AJPress)
