Fresh from her most successful 10-city concert tour with David Foster and Friends, international sensation Charice o will be the special guest in the Christmas concerto, Handog ng FASO sa Pasko. Said to have more individual fans than the other artists in David Foster and Friends, Charice has been referred to by Oprah Winfrey on her September 9 show as "The Most Talented Girl in the World."
Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco was born May 10, 1992 and rose to popularity through YouTube. She started competing in amateur singing contests since she was seven and finished third place in ABS-CBN’s Little Big Star when she was 13. Two years later, one of her fans started posting videos of Charice’s performances onto You Tube. The videos garnered millions of hits making Charice an internet phenomenon. She got invitations to sing in Stockholm, Sweden and in South Korea where she won in a talent show Star King. After seeing her performance on YouTube, Ellen Degeneres featured Charice on her show. A few months later, Charice was invited to guest at the The Paul O’Grady Show in London, England. Oprah Winfrey then put Charice in her show and recommended that music producer David Foster take the young singer under his wing. Foster was so impressed with Charice that she has been a part of his concert tours since last year.
Charice was one of the few privileged artists invited to perform at President Obama’s pre-inaugural events in Washington early this year. A few months ago, she debuted her first internationally released single Note to God, which was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster.
Now undoubtedly one of the Philippines’ biggest musical sensations, Charice has performed with some of the world’s best artists which include Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. And on December 6 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium at 5pm, Charice will grace the stage with the first Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO) in LA’s most awaited Christmas concerto.
The brisk ticket sales of Handog ng Faso sa Pasko rose to all-time high records ever since word came out a few days ago that Charice will be a special guest in the show. "We already bought many tickets for the show," said Aida, an excited Fil-Am who can’t wait for the Christmas concert. "But when we learned Charice will be one of the guests, we reserved more tickets. It will surely be a great show!" she added.
