NOVEMBER 23 IS THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR THE 2009 CITY OF LOS ANGELES COUNCIL DISTRICT 2 SPECIAL RUNOFF ELECTION

Los Angeles City Clerk June Lagmay reminds residents of Council District 2 that they must register to vote no later than Monday, November 23, 2009 in order to be able to vote in the December 8, 2009 City of Los Angeles Council District 2 Special Runoff Election. To register to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States and 18 years old by Election Day. Registered voters who have recently moved or changed their names must re-register by the November 23 deadline to vote in the Special Runoff Election.

You can register or re-register to vote by mail by completing a voter registration form which can be obtained at the public counter of most Los Angeles City and County buildings, libraries, fire stations, post offices and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices. Also, the Office of the California Secretary of State offers voters the opportunity to register or re-register to vote online at http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm. Finally, you can register or re-register in person at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office located at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, CA 90650.

If you would like to receive an Official Sample Ballot in English or one of the six Federally-mandated languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese), please contact the Office of the City Clerk-Election Division no later than Friday, December 4, 2009. Official Sample Ballot information is also available on the Election Division website at
http://cityclerk.lacity.org/election/ under the "Find Your Polling Place and Sample Ballot" link. Web access is available at most public libraries.
