The singer made the comment to her 24 million Twitter followers, sparking an online uproar Thursday in Thailand where some fans called it offensive, insulting and bad for the country's image.
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Phillip Phillips, a bluesy Georgia guitar man, was crowned the new "American Idol" on Wednesday after defeating teenager Jessica Sanchez in record viewer voting. He was the fifth male "Idol" winner in a row.
Phillips, 21, a pawn shop worker from Leesburg, Ga., looked stunned after host Ryan Seacrest announced his name, then wordlessly accepted a hug from Sanchez and congratulations from his fellow finalists.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Jessica Sanchez wishes she could've changed one thing about the "American Idol" finale: her final song.
The judges completely dismissed Change Nothing, the lukewarm potential future single that failed to fully showcase the 16-year-old singer's vocal prowess during the Fox talent competition's final performance round Tuesday.
A best picture winner of the 2011 Cinema One originals in the Philippines, Ka Oryang (directed by Sari Lluch Dalena) stood out in the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival screening last May 14 at the CGV Cinema in Koreatown.
Ka Oryang is a powerful story about Gregoria dela Cruz (Alessandra de Rossi), a doctor engaged in medical missions in the villages in the Philippines during the martial law years. She decided to help a wounded guerilla of the New People’s Army (NPA) and meets NPA comrade Noli (Joem Bascon), with whom she gets romantically involved.

On the heels of becoming one of the few Filipino fashion designers to be worn by an Academy Award winning actress, Hollywood designer Oliver Tolentino now adds an American Idol contestant to his celebrity list.
Jessica Sanchez, one of the two remaining contestants, wore Tolentino’s purple dupioni silk creation to compete on this week’s show. The mermaid-cut structured gown featured a bustier draped bodice with ruffles & pleats accenting the hip. Sanchez wore the gown when the contestants first appeared and then sang Mariah Carey’s My All, one of her three songs for the night.
