Visual Communications Southern California Asian American Central Inc.

THE mission of Visual Communications is to promote intercultural understanding through the creation, presentation, preservation and support of media works by and about Asian Pacific Americans. Katipunan-USA

STARTED by a father and daughter team three years ago, Katipunan-USA’s main goal is to bring necessary change to the Philippines with its humanitarian projects. Our non-profit organization has sent books to Filipino elementary and high schools, raised money for a Filipino orphanage in Cabanatuan City, and brought a Filipina teacher to the US for free health care and lodging in its three year existence. Our projects have been written about in The Orange County Register, Los Angeles Times, Ang Periyodiko, The Asian Journal, and other newspapers and magazines.

Philippine History Group of Los Angeles (PHGLA)

NOW in our 5th year!

In the latter part of 1994, Victor Nebrida and I were chatting at the Filipino Library in Los Angeles where we work as volunteers. Since we happened to be board members of the umbrella organization (Pamana) that ran the library, we were thinking of things that we could do to make the library a more effective means in the dissemination of information about the Philippines to the local community.

Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV)

ALYANSA Ng Komunidad (AK) formed in 1993, through the December 7 Movement began to sow  the seeds of the veterans campaign about 20 years ago.  When the December 7 Movement folded in 1997, the JFAV was formed.

 These efforts evolved into Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV),organized in December 16, 1998  under People’s CORE. It undertook campaign to win tactical victories such as benefits for Filipino World War II veterans since 2000.
