FOUNDED in 1972 with 3,000 members and a staff of three, APPA is composed of several committees: Awards; Continuing Medical Education; Foreign Medical Graduates; Medico-Legal Aid; Philippine Medical Aid Program; Political Action; Public Relations; Unifi cation.
Individuals from the Philippines who are licensed to practice medicine in the US. Seeks to: render free medical care to indigent persons; establish a continuing medical education program for physicians; provide aid for education of physicians; support medical research. Sends medical missions to the Philippines. Provides medical residency program placement service. Maintains speakers’ bureau; compiles statistics.
Awards: APPA Physician of the Year. Publications: Directory of Physicians, biennial. * Leadership Roster of Offi cers, annual. * Philippine Physician, periodic. Newsletter. Association and professional newsletter. * Also publishes CME abstracts; plans to publish journal of medicine.
