Calling all Filipino citizens in America! You may not be in the Philippines for next year’s national elections but it doesn’t mean you cannot be a part of it. You can still exercise your right and privilege to vote via Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV). Under the law, all citizens of the Philippines abroad, not otherwise disqualified by law, and who are at least eighteen (18) years of age on the day of the May 10,2010 National elections, can vote for the President, Vice-President, Senators and Party List Representatives during the May 10, 2010 National Elections.

This was announced during the "Pulongbayan sa Konsulado" held last January 22 at the Rizal Hall of the Consulate General in Los Angeles. Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon informed the participants who attended the event that Filipinos in the US may file applications for registration as overseas absentee voters starting 1 February 2009 to 31 August 2009 at the consulate.

The voting period abroad for overseas absentee voters will be from April 10, 9am, Philippine time, or April 9, 5pm, LA time, until May 10, 3pm, Philippine time, or May 9, 11pm, LA time.
