NEW YORK – Hundreds of Filipino heath professionals in the United States have received their medical training in the Philippines.  Because of this, the reputation of the Philippines in training excellent physicians has grown.

In view of this, many foreigners and Filipino-Americans have elected to pursue medical education and training in the Philippines.  One of the first steps for many who wish to go down this road is to take the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT), a qualifying exam supervised by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and administered to those who have successfully completed their undergraduate courses in the sciences and wish to pursue higher studies in the Philippines.

The Philippine Consulate General New York wishes to inform the community that prospective medical students can now opt to take the qualifying examinations in Los Angeles, under the auspices of the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM), a Philippine-based non-government institution which serves the assessment needs of both private and public sectors of education.  CEM has been commissioned by the CHED to administer the annual NMAT in the Philippines and in various countries, including the United States.

NMAT Exams will be conducted in Los Angeles on 8 November 2008.  Interested parties may wish to contact the NMAT coordinator Mr. Godfrey Vergara through the following channels:
