NYPCG opens a public book of condolence on the passing of former President Corazon C. Aquino

NEW YORK – At about 5:00 pm NY-time on 31 July 2009 (5:00 am, 1 August 2009 in Manila) the flag flying over the Philippine Center New York was placed at half-mast, in mourning for the passing of Former President Corazon C. Aquino.

In observance of the ten-days National mourning declared by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the Philippine Consulate General invites the community to pay their respects on the passing of the Former President by signing the book of condolence at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center, 556 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY (between 45th and 46th Street).  The book of condolence will be open to the public, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, starting on 3 August 2009.

A mass will also be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 5 August 2009, at the Chapel of San Lorenzo Ruiz378 Broome Street, New York, for the repose of the soul of the Former President.  The community is invited to join the Philippine Consulate General and the Philippine Mission to the United Nations on this occasion
